Wagerlogic initiates arbitration against Marvel
Wagerlogic, a subsidiary of the online casino software developer Cryptologic, has announced it would begin an arbitration proceeding against Marvel Enterprises Inc. and Marvel Enterprises BV under the supervision of JAMS, the largest private provider of mediation services and arbitration in the United States.
According to Wagerlogic, Marvel has not complied with a portion of their contract.
The dispute concerns the issue of licenses.
In 2005, Cryptologic and Marvel signed an agreement that Wagerlogic would be the only authorized developer to create online slot machines depicting superheroes like Marvel.
However, in March 2008, Playtech partnered with the Dutch subsidiary of Marvel BV.
With this contract, the developer has already designed a few slots like The Incredible Hulk and Iron Man.
Cryptologic declares that it tried to solve this problem without resorting to arbitration.
However, having failed to reach an agreement with Marvel, the developer was forced to initiate proceedings to protect its licensing rights and commercial interests.
