The commitment of Caesars group to protect the environment
The Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore and the LINQ in Las Vegas are the last complexes of Caesars Entertainment to have received their certification for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).
This demonstrates the group’s commitment to get this certification for all their new constructions.
They recently announced that they aspire the Gold certification and that they are committed to at least get the certificate for each one of their future endeavours.
The LEED certificate shows the willingness of the overall company strategy to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 40% per square foot by 2025.
In 2013, Caesars Entertainment has exceeded their target of 10% in the short-term with a reduction of 12.7%.
The declaration of the intentions of the group
According to Greg Miller, the executive vice president of national development of Caesars Entertainment, as soon as the group begins the process the planning a new development, it uses all means necessary to protect the environment.
For this very reason he chose the LEED Gold certification that promotes sustainable development techniques.
The company also does not only want to get this certification for new constructions.
They also intend to optimise all their complexes in Nevada.
The Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore
Next to the Horseshoe Casino in Baltimore only three other casinos in the United States achieved LEED Gold certification.
We must recognize that this complex has many features that ensure energy efficiency, waste diversion and air quality.
For example, the building can collect rainwater for use in toilets and for watering surrounding landscapes.
Besides, the water is very carefully controlled and maintained by efficient facilities and low-flow throughout the building.
Also, a quarter of the materials used for the construction of the building contained recycled materials.
The LINQ in Las Vegas
The LINQ in Las Vegas achieved over 21% in energy saving.
Using native plants that are tolerant to drought, and high-performance drip irrigation systems, the facility will reduce more than 51% of its potable water consumption.
Due to the location in the centre of the famous Las Vegas Strip, the LINQ will also provide good parking capacities and optimised access to public transport.
The casino also offers dedicated parking spaces for vehicles with low emissions.
