Hungary allows 7 additional casinos

To boost tourism and create more jobs, the Hungarian Ministry of Economy has issued seven licenses for establishing new casinos in the country.
Five of them will be located in the capital Budapest and the surrounding area, while the other two will be located in the cities Debrecen and Nyiregyhaza in the eastern part of Hungary.
The ministry also said that these establishments will have to pay a large fee of 4 billion HUF (13 million euros) per year.
Additionally, experts believe that the casinos could generate nearly 1 billion HUF in taxes every year.
Following the law of 2012, which prohibits slot machines outside of casinos, they experienced an increase in attendance and revenue.
For example, the Tropicana Casino Budapest has seen gambling revenue increases of about 35% to 2.7 billion forint, and the number of daily visitors has increased from 250 to 400 since the above mentioned prohibition law has been put in place.
