A study on the growth of games on mobile devices
More and more developers of video games or online casino games are currently paying more attention to the market of games on mobile devices.
This market has been growing rapidly for many years now.
This fact is again confirmed by a new report which estimates that the sector is expected to generate $29 billion in revenue per year, that is more than €21 billion by the end of 2016.
If these details prove to be correct it would lead to a growth of 38% for this year.
Attracting as many unique players as possible
The technology consulting firm Juniper Research are the ones who conducted the study.
It reveals that the market for mobile gaming devices is dominated by casual players who primarily play free games.
This fact has now become the main objective of developers who are now trying to attract a maximum of unique players.
With this new strategy the developers want to increase the life span of their products that will allow them to achieve higher overall returns on their investment.
The success of tablets
The study also finds that tablet users are more likely to purchase paid content than the users of smart phones.
It also indicates that the improved performance and graphics capabilities for games on tablets should also convince more and more players to opt for one of these mobile devices instead of a smart phone.
However, Juniper Research does not believe that the increase in tablet users will mark the end of the gaming market on smart phones.
These will survive due to a niche audience.
About gambling
The different considerations relate to the games on mobile devices as a whole, but they also tell us more about the particular state of mobile gambling.
In the next years it is expected that the market will grow a lot.
In fact, the number of North Americans using their phones to bet money is expected to reach 160 million users by 2019.
If we look at the global figures, there are over 7 billion people of which more than 6 billion have a mobile phone or access to such a device.
With the legalisation of online games in many countries and new legislations, all four corners of the world can be targeted.
The current situation is undoubtedly in favour of mobile games.
