While Norway continues to enforce strict regulations against online gambling websites who do not respect the law of the country, it appears now that the government may also soon liberalise this market.
We have collected three recent news that we will talk about in this post.

Online Gaming operators have been warned by the regulatory body

Three unlicensed operators for online gambling in Norway have just been warned by the country’s regulatory authority, which is called Lotteritilsynet.
In fact, they continued to offer their Internet services to Norwegians even though this activity is still prohibited in the territory.
What is even worse is that they are offering special bonuses for users in this market.
Accordingly, Atle Hamar, the director of the regulatory body has recommended that the government set up a blockade of the IP and / or the blocking of transferring funds that are in connection with illegal online gaming websites.

A study commissioned by the state

Despite a certain firmness in dealing with illegal virtual casinos, the country still seems willing to liberalise the market.
The law firm DLA Piper has just been commissioned by the Norwegian government to study the viability of repealing the monopoly on gambling, and opening the market to domestic and foreign operators.
This news was announced by the Norwegian gambling regulator, Lotteritilsynet.
They also took the opportunity to indicate the possibilities of blocking the IP and / or the blocking of the transfer of funds, that are in connection to unlicensed online casinos, were currently under review.
This proposal has also been strongly criticized by the European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA).

A committee set up by the government

Meanwhile, a designated committee will be responsible for studying the regulations that have been put in place in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and the UK, in order to identify the advantages and disadvantages of each approach.
The committee will also evaluate, among other things, the effects of the introduction of a licensing system for operators of lotteries and gambling, and the impact of the opening of the market with regards to gambling addiction.
