Scorsese is going to direct a short film to promote a casino in Macau

The famous American director Martin Scorsese is currently directing an all-star cast with Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt in a short film to promote the new casino-hotel Studio City in Macau.
The hotel is being operated by Melco Crown Entertainment.
The movie will be released next year at the opening ceremony of the casino-hotel.
It is the first Asian resort dedicated to gambling that also contains television studios and cinemas.
Studio City is located near the port linking the former Portuguese colony to Hengqin Island in China, and across from The Venetian Macau, on the famous Cotai Strip.

Two of Scorsese’s favourite actors are meeting behind the camera of the famous director

RatPac Entertainment, the producing company of the short film, was founded at the end of 2012 by director Brett Ratner and Executive Chairman James Packer from Melco Crown Entertainment.
This company should do well in the film industry in the future since they already managed to sign a contract with Warner Bros. studios to co-finance 75 films.
The short film, which we mentioned in the introduction, will feature two of Martin Scorsese’s favourite actors behind the camera of the famous director.
In fact, Robert De Niro and Scorcese already worked together on eight films.
Leonardo DiCaprio also starred in five feature films of this prestigious director.
However, it is the first time for Brad Pitt to work with Scorcese, and it is also the first time that the three stars will work together on a project.
The short film in question was written by Terence Winter, the executive producer of HBO, who has also worked on the cult series The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire.

A huge complex costing $2.5 billion

The Melco Crown Entertainment group will use this film as a promotional tool in the United States for their hotel-casino in Macau.
The complex costs $2.5 billion and is named Studio City.
It is expected to open in summer 2015.
After countless delays, the facility has not only a film studio and cinemas, it also features a five-star hotel and a casino with 500 gaming tables and 1,500 slot machines.
Filming began on Sunday, August 31st, in the city of New York.
The movie fits perfectly into the Melco Crown Entertainment group’s strategy, who want to bring together Western and Eastern cultures through the creation of an international brand in the entertainment sector.
