Amaya bought PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker
After weeks of speculation, the Amaya Group announced that they have finally reached a definitive agreement to acquire Oldford Group Ltd, the parent company of Rational Group Ltd, which is the largest online poker company in the world, and operates PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker.
The sale was valued at $4.9 billion, and it will allow the Amaya group to become the largest gambling company, operating at international level on the Internet.
In fact, PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker together are the most popular and profitable poker sites in the world with over 85 million registered members.
Under the terms of the transaction, the shareholders of Oldford Group Ltd, which is led by founder and CEP Mark Scheinberg, will contribute their shares to a wholly owned subsidiary of Amaya.
In addition to that, the company directors will leave their positions, but those of those of the Rational Group Ltd, PokerStars and Fulltilt Poker will not be affected by this.
The players will also continue to receive uninterrupted access to the virtual poker rooms throughout the duration of the transaction.
