Spain is expected to legalize slot machines within six months

In June 2012, Spain granted its first online gambling licenses, as we mentioned in this article.
Since then, authorized operators have been able to offer Iberian Internet users bingo, poker, roulette, and blackjack.
Soon, they should also be authorized to offer slot machines on the Internet.
It has now been more than a year since the Spanish government made this promise, but now regulations are finally ready to be adopted.
Sometime this week, the Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ) is expected to present its draft measure to regional authorities.
The regulator will then publish it online to gather comments from operators and the public.
Finally, it will transmit any text that has been modified to the Ministry of Taxation, which is tasked with publishing it to the Journal Officiel.
Experts estimate that, within six months, operators still present on the Spanish market despite high taxes should be able to legally offer slot machines online to try to boost an industry sector that is struggling to take off, mainly because of the economic crisis.
