Skrill buys Paysafecard
In January 2011, we published an article in which we compared the electronic wallet Moneybookers with its main competitor Neteller. The former won.
Just a few days earlier, we had reported in this piece that Moneybookers would soon change its name.
In November 2011, Moneybookers was officially renamed Skrill.
The company has recently bought Paysafecard, a provider of prepaid cards, for $140 million.
After the takeover, Skrill will be able to offer one of the most comprehensive systems for online and offline payments.
In addition, the company can count on 27 million users and 130,000 websites that already accept at least one of its payment methods.
So far no information has been provided on whether the name of Paysafecard will or will not be maintained.
